SANA'A March 05. 2024 (Saba) - Communications and Information Technology Minister in the caretaker government, Misfer Al-Numair, said, “We are in constant and daily contact with international submarine cable companies in the Red Sea , Bab al-Mandab, and we are ready to provide all support and facilities to repair the cables.”
He added in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), “The International Submarine Cable Company in Bab al-Mandab announced the interruption of three submarine cables, and its announcement was professional about the interruption of the cables, and it did not specify who caused the interruption,” denying the accusations of the Zionist entity’s media, which are considered to be contrary to the truth.
Minister Al-Numair pointed out that the new risks in Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab are the result of the American-British aggression against Yemen and international navigation, blaming this aggression for the consequences of all those risks, stressing the importance of coordination with the Yemeni government in Sana'a to repair the submarine cables in the Red Sea announced by the international company. .
Minister Al-Numair stated that the Yemeni government has three new marine cable projects, and is continuing to follow up on them and coordinate to bring ships into Red Sea to deliver cable sections to Hodeida port , and to extend the main cable towards Bab al-Mandab and to the Suez Canal.
He attributed the delay of these projects to arbitrary measures, the unjust blockade, and the prevention of Yemen from exploiting its cables since 2015.
He said: The Yemeni citizen suffers from the deterioration of communications services as a result of the aggression’s attack on the service infrastructure.
