Biden is in real dilemma in winning second term in upcoming presidential elections
[07/May/2024]

SANA'A May 07. 2024 (Saba) - US President Joe Biden faces a real dilemma in winning a second term in the upcoming presidential elections, in which he is competing with former Republican President Donald Trump, due to his biased position on the Zionist aggression on Gaza Strip, his unlimited and blind support for the Zionist entity.

At the beginning of the student protests across America in support of Palestine , demanding an end to the aggression and genocide in Gaza Strip, Biden remained silent and avoided talking about student mobilization in many universities, considering that this issue would undermine his election campaign.

The 81-year-old Democrat, who will face Republican Donald Trump in the presidential elections in November, has remained silent regarding the movement, has only spoken publicly once and briefly about these demonstrations.

In the context of demonizing the pro-Palestine student movement, Biden said on April 22 in response to a question posed by a journalist: “I condemn manifestations of anti-Semitism (...). I also condemn those who do not understand what is happening to the Palestinians.”

Since then, Biden has remained silent amid clashes between students and police that arrested hundreds at universities across the country, which was noted by 77-year-old Donald Trump, who said during a rally on Wednesday, “There is great confusion in our country, and he is not saying anything.”

Later, Republican Biden broke his silence and called on university presidents to “take back the campus” and described the demonstrators at Columbia University in New York as “crazy, rabid, and Hamas sympathizers.”

Some analysts believe that "the protests put Biden in a sensitive position because he relied a lot to win in 2020 on young people, Muslims and Americans of Arab origin."

Since the beginning of the aggression against Gaza on October 7, Joe Biden has been the target of severe criticism because of his unconditional support for Hebrew state.

An opinion poll published by Harvard University in mid-April showed that he had a preference among Americans under the age of thirty: 45 percent of voting intentions compared to 37 percent for Donald Trump, a difference of eight percentage points.

But this percentage is much lower than it was four years ago. In the spring of 2020: the Democrat had a 23-point lead over his Republican opponent.

It is possible that the US President will regain the satisfaction of some young voters by November, if an agreement is reached between Hamas , the Zionist entity regarding a ceasefire and the exchange of hostages held in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners.

Analysts believe that this may perhaps contribute to putting an end to some of the protests , restoring stability in universities, if the agreement between Hamas , the Zionist entity fails, and the protests continue in universities, the Democrats will hold their conference under very high tension this summer.

The party is expected to officially nominate Joe Biden in August in Chicago.

In 1968, a chaotic Democratic convention was held in the city against the backdrop of demonstrations against the Vietnam War, shortly after outgoing President Lyndon Johnson abandoned the candidacy.

At that time, law student Joe Biden distanced himself from the protests. In a book he published in 2007, he recalls seeing students occupying a building at his university in Syracuse (northeast of the country) and his comment, “Look at these idiots.” He added, “To that degree, I was far from the movement Anti-war."

It seems that the Democrats realized that the aggression against Gaza put the United States in front of two directions: either overthrowing Netanyahu or allowing Biden to lose the elections, and that keeping the situation as it is in Gaza enhances the chances of Trump winning.

The Western media is trying to show that there is a major disagreement between the United States and the Zionist entity regarding the aggression against Gaza Strip, through repeated confrontations , verbal quarrels between Netanyahu and the Biden administration, but the truth of the matter is that successive American administrations have been absolutely supportive of the Zionist entity.

In light of the student uprising in American universities demanding an end to the Zionist aggression against Gaza and the approaching holding of the National Convention of the Democratic Party in Chicago, comparisons come to mind between the current protests against the Zionist aggression against Gaza Strip and the movement against the Vietnam War.

Saturday marked the 54th anniversary of the shooting at Kent State University, when Ohio National Guard forces were sent to quell protests on campus, shooting 13 students, killing four of them, and unleashing a wave of unrest across the country.

The uprising of American university students that broke out two weeks ago differs in size and motives. Student unions have also changed, as has the Democratic Party.

But given the expected close race between current President Joe Biden, who belongs to the Democratic Party, and former President Donald Trump, who belongs to the Republican Party, the protests may have a political impact.

By 1970, the Vietnam War had completed five years, and then-Republican President Richard Nixon announced the expansion of the war to include Cambodia. By the same year, nearly 1.8 million young Americans had been drafted, and nearly 30,000 had died.

The Zionist aggression against Gaza Strip has entered its eighth month, leaving tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children , women, and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in all medical, life, environmental and educational sectors.

The Zionist enemy entity has continued its aggression against Gaza Strip since the seventh of last October, despite the issuance of a Security Council resolution for an immediate ceasefire, and also despite its appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.”
