MADRID December 06. 2023 (Saba) - Spain constantly work to recognize the Palestinian State, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said even if the move gets insufficient support inside the European Union.
An end to the Palestine-Israel conflict should be based on the two-state solution, the Spanish PM told reporters in Madrid.
The State of Palestine should be recognized first, he argued, in order for the Spain-led initiative to help hold international peace conference.
While more than 130 countries have recognized the Palestinian State, the United States and some EU countries have not yet, he added.
It deserves efforts to adopt initiative inside the EU so as to recognize Palestine, PM Sánchez said. Nonetheless, Spain has constant trend to do so.
If it stays silent at Israel violations of human rights and occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, the EU will risk isolation in the international community, the Spanish PM warned, calling on Europe to review it policy.
