Algeria - Saba:
The Algerian Football Federation announced a series of precautionary measures following the tragic accident that claimed the lives of four MC Alger fans during the celebration of the local league title.
The decisions were made during an emergency meeting held by the Algerian Football Federation's Board of Directors yesterday, Monday, in the Algerian capital, to discuss the repercussions of the tragic accident that occurred at the "July 5" Stadium during last month's celebrations.
The meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims, followed by the announcement of a series of organizational decisions, most notably:
- Temporarily reducing fan attendance to 25% until the completion of a review of the organizational conditions within sports facilities.
- Extending the ban on fan movement between governorates until the end of the first half of the 2025-2026 season, to reduce tension and incidents of violence.
- Emphasizing that the Federation will directly supervise the rehabilitation and equipment of stadiums, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to ensure compliance with security and organizational standards.
On Monday, MC Alger announced the death of a fourth fan from his injuries, joining the list of victims killed during the stampede that occurred in the stands of the July 5 Stadium during the wild celebrations of the team's winning the Algerian League title.
The federation explained in its statement that these steps aim to ensure the safety and security of fans inside stadiums and prevent the recurrence of unfortunate incidents. It confirmed that it is preparing a comprehensive plan to improve sports infrastructure and enhance organizational and safety measures.
