GAZA October 20.2023 (Saba) - From the Rafah crossing, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, called for an unconditional humanitarian ceasefire to ensure the arrival of aid to Gaza, stressing that the residents of the Gaza Strip suffer from a lack of water, food, fuel and basic materials.
The Palestinian Shehab News Agency quoted Guterres in a press conference held at the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side, saying: “We need to transfer aid trucks from the Egyptian side of Rafah to the Palestinian side, and in larger numbers. We must speed up the transfer of aid from the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing into the Gaza Strip should be expedited.”
He added: "Despite the agreement to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, there are conditions that hinder its access to the Strip, and the largest possible amount of humanitarian aid should be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip."
The Secretary-General of the United Nations stated that there are conditions set for the entry of aid into Gaza, and these conditions must be reduced to speed up its arrival... stressing that UNRWA is the one that will undertake the process of distributing aid in the Gaza Strip.
