SEOUL Jun. 01. 2023 (Saba) - South Korea has successfully tested a home-made main interceptor missile under development, the third success out of four missile tests so far.
According to South Korean news agency (Yonhap), the government's Defense Development Agency revealed the full process of interception testing of a long-range surface-to-air missile.
The missile interceptor system has three stages, including the final stage (kill vehicle) and is designed to shoot down incoming ballistic missiles at an altitude of 50-60 km.
The Defense Development Agency has also conducted four tests of surface-to-air interceptor missiles since last November, of which three were successful, including the last test.
The Southern Ministry of Defense plans to complete the development of the missile interception system by next year, and to embark on the mass production stage in 2025.
