TOKYO Jun. 01. 2023 (Saba) - US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has expressed regret that his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu refused to meet him this week in Singapore.
According to the Russia Today website, Austin said during a visit to Tokyo on Thursday, "I think this is unfortunate," warning that after the "provocative interceptions" carried out by Chinese fighter jets recently, his concern increased about the possibility of an accident that "could quickly get out of control."
This comes after the United States announced two days ago that a Chinese fighter had carried out an "unnecessarily aggressive drill" near the US RC-135 over the South China Sea.
The Chinese Defense Ministry had said that the military relations between China and the United States are very important and that contacts and exchanges between the two armies have not been interrupted.
