SANA'A March 20.3023 (Saba) – The Parliament approved, in its Monday session, chaired by Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i, the report of the joint committee of services and constitutional and legal affairs committees on the grievance submitted by the owners of electric generators against the temporary regulation regulating their activity.
This came after the commitment of the government side, represented by the Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, to implement the following recommendations:-
1.Reconsidering the temporary regulation to regulate the activities of electric generators related to the generation and distribution of electric energy issued by the Prime Minister's Resolution No. (33) of 1444 AH.2.Collecting service fees specified in the amount of 300 riyals per month on each government electricity consumption bill and canceling any increase added to these fees.
3.Canceling the weekly or monthly subscription that is collected on each governmental or commercial electricity consumption bill.
4.The Electricity Activities Regulatory Council should not exaggerate the tariff fees.
5.Monitoring of electric power generators continuously to ensure they do not cause health damage to citizens and do not pollute the surrounding environment.
6.The Ministry of Electricity and its institutions must maintain the state's property related to the network, poles, and others and maintain them regularly.
In the context of their discussions on the report, members of Parliament stressed the importance of committing not to impose any fees except by law, and that the organizing regulations are not released until legislation is passed in this regard.
