General Authority of Civil Aviation commemorates International Civil Aviation Day in Hodeida Airport
[Wed, 07 Dec 2022 19:20:55 +0300]

HODEIDA December 07.2022 (Saba) -The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology on Wednesday celebrated the World Civil Aviation Day, which falls on the 7th of December of each year, in a rhetorical ceremony at Hodeida International Airport.

In the event organized by the Authority in cooperation with the local authority in Hodeida province, a press conference was held during which the extent of damage to Yemeni airports was reviewed, including Hodeida International Airport, which was completely destroyed by the US-Saudi-led aggression coalition.

A statement issued by the conference indicated that the damage to the entire airport buildings and halls, the tower, the fire and rescue stations, the electricity and control stations, the airport fence, the landing and take-off runways, and the dock, amounted to a total cost of about 22,450,000 dollars.

The statement, which was read by the authority's representative, Raed Jabal, condemned the shameful international silence towards the systematic destruction of the facilities and airports of the Republic of Yemen, in full view of the world.

The authority also condemned the continuation of the blockade imposed on the movement of travelers to and from the Republic of Yemen, indicating that three flights per week to and from Sanaa International Airport are not sufficient to meet the needs of travelers.

In its statement, the authority called on the United Nations and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to assume their responsibilities regarding what is happening to civil aviation in Yemen and to work in accordance with international and humanitarian laws that were approved to protect people and preserve their basic rights.

The statement held the aggression coalition responsible for all damages to the infrastructure and the suffering of Yemeni people.

The authority appreciated the keenness of the local authority in Hodeida province to restore readiness and operate the airport, urging for more measures to preserve the lands and the airport campus.
