Occupied Quds – Saba
The Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday handed out dozens of demolition and displacement orders targeting several families in the Jabal al-Baba community east of Quds.
Local sources confirmed to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that the occupation forces continued their targeted campaign against Palestinian communities by distributing demolition orders for homes and properties belonging to multiple families which exacerbates their suffering and threatens to empty the community of its residents.
In a related development the Israeli municipality on Tuesday forced Jerusalem resident Mohammed Khaled Qara'in to demolish his own home in Wadi Hilweh in Silwan town.
The occupation municipality had previously forced Qara'in's brothers Iyad and Ammar to demolish their homes on the same plot of land where the third house stood.
The Quds Governorate reported that the three brothers were compelled to self-demolish their homes to avoid exorbitant fines that could reach hundreds of thousands of shekels if the occupation forces carried out the demolition with their machinery
The occupation authorities routinely force Quds residents to self-demolish their homes under the pretext of lacking construction permits Those who refuse face home demolitions by occupation bulldozers along with crippling fines imposed on the property owner
The Quds municipality systematically denies construction permits to Palestinian residents then either demolishes their homes or forces them to do so themselves This policy violates international laws and humanitarian principles guaranteeing the right to housing as part of the occupation's systematic practices to forcibly displace Palestinians from Quds while expanding settlements in and around the city
