Gaza – Saba:
The Director-General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir Al-Barsh, announced today, Tuesday, that 500 infants are currently receiving treatment in hospitals due to hunger and malnutrition.
In a press statement, he explained that more than 28,000 cases of malnutrition have been recorded in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the year amid the ongoing siege on the area.
Hunger is intensifying in the Gaza Strip, while international organizations struggle to find a way to deliver aid, medicines, and nutritional supplements to the starving children due to Israeli-imposed policies. This situation threatens the lives of thousands who lack proper nutrition.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza also announced today that Gaza Strip hospitals recorded 5 deaths in the past 24 hours, including two children, as a result of starvation and malnutrition. This brings the total death toll to 227, including 103 children.
It is noteworthy that the total number of victims awaiting aid who have died after reaching hospitals rose today to 1,838, with over 13,409 injured.
With American and European support, since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation army continues committing crimes of genocide and enforcing a tight siege on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of 61,599 Palestinian civilians—mostly children and women—and injuring 154,088 others. The numbers remain unofficial as thousands of victims remain trapped under rubble or in the streets, unreachable by rescue and medical teams.
