Berlin - Saba:
Last night, German club Bayer Leverkusen announced the signing of German goalkeeper Janis Blasevich on loan from RB Leipzig for a two-year deal that will expire in 2027.
Blasevich's signing comes as a bolstering of the team's goalkeeping position following the transfer of Finnish goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky to French club Monaco following a successful season in which Leverkusen won the German league title in 2024 and finished runner-up the following season in 2025.
The financial details of the deal were not officially disclosed, but Kicker sports magazine indicated that it was worth approximately €2 million, with additional incentives of up to €1 million.
Leverkusen also strengthened its squad this summer by signing Dutch goalkeeper Mark Fleiken from English club Brentford. He is expected to become the team's first-choice goalkeeper, while the 34-year-old Blasevich will assume the role of reserve goalkeeper. It is noteworthy that Blasevich played 64 official matches with Leipzig, winning the German Cup in 2023, and spent last season on loan at the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg.
