The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, met on Saturday with the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Salah, the Chairman of the Capital Secretariat Commerce Chamber, Ali Al-Hadi, the Chairman of the Hajjah Governorate Commerce Chamber, Yahya Suhail, and several members of the federation and representatives of commerce chambers from the capital and other provinces.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdulrahman Al-Juma’i, along with heads and secretaries of the parliament’s permanent committees, members of the House, and the Assistant Secretary-General of the House. During the meeting, the Speaker and members listened to the efforts being made to develop economic and developmental sectors.
Discussions addressed the role of the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry, as well as financiers, businessmen, and traders, in promoting economic development—particularly under the exceptional circumstances the country is facing due to the repercussions of aggression and blockade. The meeting emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination to find appropriate solutions to the challenges hindering the performance of Yemen’s industrial and commercial sectors.
Additionally, the Speaker and members were briefed by the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce on the difficulties and issues facing the federation and the private sector, stressing the need to develop solutions.
The Speaker and members affirmed their commitment to addressing any challenges facing the private sector, financiers, and businessmen in coordination with relevant authorities, in line with the public interest.
In this context, the Speaker of the House directed the formation of a committee to discuss the decisions of the Ministries of Finance, Economy, Industry, and Investment, while emphasizing the importance of supporting and developing local products to strengthen the national economy.
