Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed the growing humanitarian response in Europe to Israel's crimes in Gaza, praising "every step taken towards recognizing the State of Palestine."
This came during a press conference held by President Erdogan with his Gabonese counterpart, Brice Clotaire Oligui Ngoma, at the Turkish Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara, on Thursday evening, according to Anadolu Agency.
Erdogan said that during his meeting with Ngoma, he discussed the genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza.
He noted that "the solidarity of our African brothers with the Palestinian people is well known to all."
Erdogan stressed that "the African continent is among the regions from which the most pronounced reactions have emerged against Israel's policy of massacres in Gaza for 22 months."
He emphasized that "no one can remain silent in the face of scenes of brutality in which innocent children are dying of hunger and civilians gathering to receive food aid are deliberately shot." Erdoğan said that anyone with compassion and human dignity would lose patience with the injustice perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
He added, "Our priority is to deliver aid to our brothers in Gaza, and we, as a humanitarian front, are obligated to do whatever is necessary to stop this injustice."
Erdoğan added, "We appreciate the humanitarian responses emerging from Europe in recent days, especially France and Britain."
The Turkish president also welcomed "every step taken toward recognizing the State of Palestine."
