A workshop organized by the Yemeni Banks Association, titled "Cyber Risks and Methods of Protection from Cyberattacks and Financial Crimes," was held in Sana'a. The workshop was attended by 40 representatives from banks, e-wallets, and insurance companies.
The workshop focused on raising awareness among banking sector employees about information security and the need to update protection systems to keep pace with developments in hacking and fraud methods.
During the opening ceremony, Wadih Al-Sada, Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering, noted that relying on employee awareness and training has become more important than relying solely on technical systems, emphasizing that technological risks now outweigh credit risks.
For his part, Mahmoud Naji, Acting Chairman of the Association, emphasized that the human element is the first line of defense against cyberattacks and called for training personnel to keep pace with technological developments.
Banking expert Fadi Al-Aswadi also presented a comprehensive training material that focused on common attack methods and prevention methods, as well as enhancing the participants' cybersecurity culture. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation, emphasizing the importance of developing the capabilities of financial sector workers to confront growing cyber threats.
