Sana’a - SABA:
A meeting was held in Sana’a under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubaie, to discuss the ministry’s draft plan and priorities for the year 1447 AH.
The meeting, attended by the irrigation and land reclamation official, engineer Abbas Hiba, and directors of relevant departments and affiliated bodies, reviewed several proposals to be included in the plan, covering diverse activities, programs, and projects.
Minister Al-Rubaie emphasized that the plan must include all important interventions and projects aligned with the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the urgent priorities of the Government of Change and Construction.
He explained that the plan addresses institutional development, information systems, research, mechanization, marketing, various agricultural services, livestock, pesticides, value chains, and import regulation management.
The minister urged coordinated efforts across all ministry departments and affiliated institutions, with direct follow-up by the Planning Department, focusing on a comprehensive plan covering all projects—both funded and those seeking future funding.
He stressed the importance of establishing a database for all activities, programs, and projects to aid planning and achieving self-sufficiency.
Al-Rubaie noted that legume production in the central provinces has reached self-sufficiency, with factories now absorbing local agricultural produce, calling for focus on community economy determinants and better farmer services.
Regarding fisheries, the plan must prioritize rehabilitating landing centers, supporting fishermen, and meeting their needs, while bridging gaps between agricultural and fisheries project financing units and investors.
The minister directed all departments and institutions to develop their plans, indicators, and interventions covering funded and non-funded projects.
He highlighted the need for agricultural research to develop new crop varieties, improve existing ones, and adopt technologies that increase yields with lower costs.
