The Presidium of Parliament held on Sunday an expanded joint meeting included the heads and rapporteurs of the permanent committees of the Council, chaired by the Parliament speaker Yahya al-Ra’i.
During the meeting, which was partially attended by the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction, Ahmed al-Rahawi, al-Ra'i stressed the importance of addressing the latest developments and events on the national and regional arenas, foremost of which is the aggression and siege imposed on the Palestinian people.
He reaffirmed the firm position of the Republic of Yemen on the Palestinian cause, calling on Arab, Islamic, and international parliaments to act swiftly on all levels to save Gaza and to take practical and firm stances to put an end to the aggression, siege, starvation, and unprecedented genocidal crimes in human history being committed against the people of Gaza, which have surpassed all legal, humanitarian, and moral norms.
During the meeting, the Presidium of Parliament and the heads and rapporteurs of the permanent committees of the Council listened to a clarification from the Prime Minister regarding a number of issues related to the performance of the government in the security, economic, and developmental fields.
The Prime Minister valued the efforts of the Speaker and members of the Parliament in supporting the Government of Change and Construction to carry out the tasks and responsibilities assigned to it during the current exceptional circumstances that Yemen is going through.
He pointed to the harmony and integration between the legislative and executive authorities, which had a significant impact on achieving successes in various fields.
The meeting addressed a number of important national issues and emphasized the need to address the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and regional and international unions and parliaments to stop dealing with those impersonating the Yemeni Parliament, especially after the circulation of corruption files and accusations between the impersonators of Parliament and the so-called Presidential Leadership Council, "the eight traitors."
The attendees denounced the suspicious subversive roles practiced by the mercenaries of aggression, including the systematic looting of the Yemeni people's wealth and resources, holding the mercenaries of aggression fully responsible for the looting and corruption they commit against the Yemeni people and their wealth.
The meeting pointed out the importance of uniting efforts and integrating performance among constitutional authorities to confront the current challenges and address imbalances and shortcomings, foremost among them confronting the economic war, the repercussions of aggression and the siege, and the recent Zionist attacks on Yemen due to its supportive and solidary position with Gaza.
The attendees reaffirmed the need to provide the Council of Ministers with what the Government of Change and Construction has accomplished from its program and what has not yet been accomplished, in addition to the extent to which the Council’s recommendations directed to the government have been implemented in this regard.
The meeting approved assigning the permanent committees of the Council to follow up with the concerned ministries, each within its competence, to assess the level of government performance and the actual implementation of the government’s program and the Council’s recommendations in this regard.
The Presidium began its meeting by reciting al-Fatiha in memory of the two late members of the Parliament Sheikh Zaid Abu Ali and Sheikh Ali al-Khabal, asking Almighty Allah to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness upon them and to grant them spacious places in His Paradise.
