Sana’a – Saba:
A meeting held in Sana’a, attended by Minister of Health and Environment Dr. Ali Shaiban and Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf Al-Din, focused on establishing a mechanism to evaluate the performance of medical facilities and monitor service pricing.
The meeting, which included Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Nasher Al-Qaoud, ministry undersecretaries, and directors of health offices and hospital authorities via video conference, reviewed the current situation of hospital institutions and the requirements for enhancing their performance.
Minister Shaban emphasized the urgent implementation of the ministry’s plans and projects in line with government priorities, calling for coordinated efforts to handle any emergencies and carry out necessary interventions.
He noted that hospital evaluations will be conducted by field committees across governorates based on approved, transparent standards and guidelines. The goal is to improve performance, upgrade service quality, and strengthen oversight and accountability in the health sector.
Minister Sharaf Al-Din highlighted the importance of the joint coordination between ministries, underlining the need to reform healthcare service delivery and control pricing across provinces. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Information’s readiness to support the Health Ministry’s efforts to improve healthcare for citizens and stated that all media outlets had been instructed to engage constructively with public health issues, including awareness and community education.
Senior attorney at the Attorney General’s Office, Judge Abdul Salam Al-Shami, stressed the need for strict monitoring and evaluation of medical facilities and pricing regulations to alleviate citizens’ suffering. He pledged legal backing for health sector oversight, warning against malpractice and price manipulation, especially given the ongoing effects of war and blockade on the population.
