Sana’a – Saba:

Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi visited the training camp of Yemen’s Youth National Football Team today at the Olympic Center in the capital, Sana’a.

Accompanied by Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Mohammed Al-Mawwaled, Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf Al-Din, and Deputy Sports Sector Head Ali Hadban, the Prime Minister reviewed the players’ physical and technical readiness and the team’s preparation program for upcoming competitions—most notably the inaugural Gulf Cup for Youth set to take place in Abha from August 28 to September 9, 2025.

Al-Rahwi praised the efforts of the coaching and administrative staff and welcomed all players, emphasizing their role in representing “Greater Yemen” from the historical and political capital, Sana’a. He affirmed the Government of Change and Reconstruction’s support for Yemeni sports and its commitment to providing available resources to help national teams achieve honorable results that reflect the spirit and determination of Yemeni youth.

The Prime Minister encouraged the team to take pride in their homeland, its great civilization, and its influential history—including its contributions to Islamic civilization. He reiterated Yemen’s moral, religious, and historical commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza, viewing this stance as rooted in Yemen’s longstanding role in global justice.

He expressed confidence in the players’ ability to achieve achievements worthy of Yemen’s name, urging them to stay disciplined, unified, and to present a positive image of a united Yemen. He stressed that the government sees sports as a means of national resilience and considers youth the cornerstone of both present and future. Al-Rahwi directed that the team receive full support and hospitality during the training camp.

Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Al-Mawwaled described the youth team as a unifying force for the country amid division and reminded players of the importance of reflecting their faith-based identity in international appearances. He considered the Prime Minister’s visit a strong morale boost and proof of the government’s commitment to youth and sports.

He added that empowering youth is central to strengthening national identity and building a generation capable of facing challenges and raising Yemen’s flag on all fronts.

Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf Al-Din highlighted the visit as evidence of the leadership’s interest in youth and sports, emphasizing their role as the bright face of Yemen in international arenas. He noted that the Ministry of Information is keen to highlight athletes’ achievements and promote their efforts through national media to inspire Yemeni youth toward further success.

Head coach Mohammed Al-Nufa’i welcomed the government’s attention and called the visit a major motivator for the players and staff to perform well in the upcoming Gulf Cup. He stressed the team’s readiness to represent Yemen honorably and win the confidence of fans.

National team player Adel Abbas expressed the players’ gratitude for the Prime Minister’s visit, calling it a significant morale booster that encourages them to give their best in training and competition.
