Tehran - Saba:
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei rejected the accusations made against Iran at the EU Council of Ministers meeting and condemned the EU's imposition of new sanctions on some Iranian individuals, describing them as illegal, destructive, and unjustified.
Iran's Mehr News Agency reported on Thursday that Baghaei described the allegation of Iran's support for terrorist acts in Europe as absurd and baseless. He described the insistence of some European governments on accusing Iran and spreading lies against it as a clear projection aimed at diverting domestic and international public opinion from these governments' systematic support for terrorism, as well as the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and the West Asia region.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized that the European Union and some of its member states criticize Iran and impose sanctions on it under false pretexts, while remaining silent regarding the Zionist regime's military aggression against Iran and the killing of Iranian citizens, and even seeking to justify and support it.
The spokesperson said, "The European Union's imposition of sanctions on Iranian citizens under false pretexts and allegations, lacking any documentation or evidence, is an arbitrary measure that contradicts the basic principles and foundations of human rights and calls for international accountability for the proposing governments and their supporters."
