The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has warned that the rapidly spreading meningitis outbreak among children, with hundreds of cases recorded in recent days, signals an impending disaster and new dangers threatening the children of the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) on Tuesday, Hamas emphasized that this outbreak is occurring amid the collapse of the healthcare system, worsening famine, shortages of infant formula, and malnutrition crises—all consequences of the blockade and the targeted aggression by the fascist Zionist enemy army.
Hamas called on the international community, the United Nations, and its institutions—particularly the World Health Organization—to intervene immediately to save Gaza’s children, who are facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. It urged global action to break the unjust Zionist siege and supply Gaza with urgent medical provisions, especially those related to child care, stressing that this is a legal, moral, and humanitarian responsibility that cannot be delayed.
