Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani visited on Saturday the Ministry of Information headquarters to review its performance and discuss the media's role in local development.
During his meeting with Minister of Information Hashem Sharaf al-Din and other officials, al-Madani emphasized that both governmental and private media are crucial for fostering community awareness and supporting development efforts, particularly in rural areas.
He highlighted the government's drive to achieve economic and social change, including food security and self-sufficiency, noting that Yemen currently spends approximately five billion dollars annually on food imports.
Al-Madani revealed that the Government of Change and Construction is actively working on 44 plant and animal production chains to repatriate these costs and create a qualitative shift in the economic sector.
Minister Sharaf al-Din affirmed the media's essential role in the development process by raising awareness and disseminating modern methods in agriculture, fisheries, and other production areas.
He stressed the government's aim to transform society into an organized participant in the production process, reducing costs and maximizing positive domestic and export impacts.
He also suggested holding a specialized workshop to align media institutions with these governmental directives.
