Nouakchott - Saba:
Hundreds participated in a march in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, calling for an end to the genocide committed by the Zionist enemy against Gaza.

The march began after Friday prayers at the Grand Mosque and continued to the United Nations representative office in Nouakchott, according to an Anadolu correspondent.

The demonstration was organized by Mauritanian groups, including the "National Rally to Support the Palestinian People" and the "Student Initiative Against Zionist Infiltration and in Defense of Just Causes," which are non-governmental organizations concerned with organizing pro-Palestine events.

Protesters held the United States responsible for the continuation of the aggression on Gaza, demanding an end to American support for the Zionist enemy.

They reiterated the necessity for Arab and Islamic nations to continue organizing marches and pressuring their governments to take action to stop the genocide being waged by the enemy against Gaza.

On the sidelines of the march, the Secretary-General of the "National Rally to Support the Palestinian People," Sheikhani Ould Beib, stated that this march is part of weekly demonstrations in Nouakchott aimed at expressing Mauritanians' continued support for Gaza.

In a statement to Anadolu, he added, "These weekly marches in Nouakchott reflect the Mauritanian people's commitment to their central cause."

He emphasized that the Mauritanian people will continue to explore every avenue of advocacy and employ all means of material and moral support for Gaza.

He noted that since October 7, 2023, the Mauritanian people have been at the forefront of pro-Palestine activism and among the leading nations supporting the resistance, despite the geographical distance. "They have set the finest examples in donations and charitable work to aid the displaced and treat the wounds of the steadfast," he said.
