Beijing - Saba:
China has broken more records with an increase in solar and wind energy, thanks to its rapid expansion of renewable energy infrastructure.
The British newspaper, The Guardian, reported in its report today, Thursday, that China is breaking more records with an increase in solar and wind energy, thanks to its rapid expansion of renewable energy infrastructure.
It emphasized that China's installed solar photovoltaic capacity has now exceeded 1,000 gigawatts for the first time, specifying that this is equivalent to half of the world's total installed solar energy capacity.
In detail, the newspaper reported that Beijing added 198 gigawatts of solar power and 46 gigawatts of wind power between January 2024 and May 2025.
The Guardian noted that this is enough to generate the equivalent of the electricity produced by Indonesia or Turkey.
The newspaper added that China's wind and solar installations last May were enough to generate the equivalent of the electricity produced by Poland, Sweden, or the UAE.
According to an analysis conducted by Lauri Myllyvirta, a researcher at the Asia Society Policy Institute, Beijing installed 93 gigawatts of solar power last month—roughly 100 solar panels every second—and 26 gigawatts of wind power, equivalent to about 5,300 turbine.
Myllyvirta wrote on social media: "We knew China's push into solar and wind power would be massive, but wow!"
