Beijing – SABA:
China announced on Wednesday the evacuation of around 80,000 people in Guizhou Province following severe floods that swept through the region.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Chinese emergency teams successfully evacuated approximately 48,900 people from Rongjiang County and around 32,000 people from Congjiang County overnight and into Wednesday morning. Authorities have declared the highest level of emergency response in both counties.
Emergency teams continue to provide humanitarian aid to the affected areas, deploying boats and other equipment to rescue residents trapped in submerged regions.
Xinhua reported that several areas in China have recorded record-breaking rainfall, leading to landslides and the partial collapse of a highway bridge in Sandu County. No casualties have been reported so far.
