Hodeida – Saba:
A meeting held on Sunday in Bajil District, Al-Hodeida Province, discussed mechanisms to enhance preventive measures against the watery diarrhea outbreak and ways to intensify efforts to combat it and limit its spread.
The meeting was attended by District Director Abdulmonem Al-Rifai, Public Mobilization Official Yasser Al-Hasani, Director of Health Education in the province Dr. Yahya Al-Junaid, Director of Epidemiological Surveillance Majed Shouai, and Director of the District Health Office Mehran Al-Hasani, along with directors of relevant executive offices, health program coordinators, and representatives of health centers and units. The progress of the campaign, the efforts of field teams, and the performance level of the district’s health operations room were reviewed.
The meeting emphasized the importance of coordination with relevant authorities to accelerate case response and reporting in real time, contributing to containment and reducing the outbreak’s spread. It also highlighted the need to enhance community awareness about the causes of watery diarrhea and preventive measures through all available means.
The district director stressed the necessity for all parties to take responsibility, work as one team, and utilize all available resources to confront the outbreak. He reaffirmed the local authority’s commitment to supporting the health sector and taking necessary measures to safeguard citizens' health and safety.
Al-Rifai appreciated the attention of the province’s leadership, represented by the local authority , the public health office, and their continuous support for health efforts in various aspects, especially amid rising infection rates.
For his part, the director of the district health office, Mehran Al-Hasani, explained that cooperation between the local authority and relevant offices has facilitated the tasks of health teams despite campaign challenges. He stressed the importance of overcoming these challenges to ensure desired outcomes.
The district’s epidemiological surveillance and health education officials, Mukhtar Jaba’ and Ashraf Al-Darboushi, reviewed infection indicators of watery diarrhea in the district and the workflow of surveillance teams. They noted varying infection rates across different areas, necessitating enhanced awareness campaigns and expanded field presence of health teams in coordination with community volunteers and relevant authorities.
