Occupied Quds - Saba:
Israeli media outlets reported that talk of compensation amounts allocated in the occupied Palestinian territories for Israelis affected by Iranian attacks has sparked outrage across Hebrew media and social media. It was reported that compensation for each affected individual will not exceed $150.
These outlets reported that this came after extremist Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced what they described as humiliating compensation figures for those affected by Iranian missile strikes.
According to Smotrich's statements, only 500 shekels (approximately $142) will be transferred to each Israeli whose home was damaged by Iranian shelling.
The Israeli government faces significant challenges in dealing with compensation for damages resulting from Iranian missile strikes on the occupied Palestinian territories, which have affected thousands of homes and properties.
According to estimates published on June 15, 2025, during just two nights of the recent Iranian attacks, damages amounted to nearly one billion shekels. Given the escalation of attacks, compensation for damages in 2025 is expected to reach approximately 8 billion shekels, with the number of victims expected to rise to 43,000.
While Israelis express dismay at the extent of the damage and the lengthy wait for compensation, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the Ministerial Committee for Home Front Preparedness, the government body responsible for home front issues, has not met since the beginning of the war. The committee also did not meet during preparations for an attack on Iran, and according to sources, the committee has not met since October 7.
