UN warns of "unprecedented crisis" launches $29 billion appeal
UN warns of "unprecedented crisis" launches $29 billion appeal
[Tue, 17 Jun 2025 18:24:01 +0300]

New York - Saba:

The United Nations has launched a humanitarian appeal, describing it as a top priority for 114 million people worldwide, after international organizations took difficult measures related to humanitarian work.

The UN appeal calls for $29 billion to meet urgent humanitarian needs for those in need around the world, amid warnings of an unprecedented funding crisis in the history of humanitarian work, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on its website.

The office said in its statement that the appeal comes after the largest ever reduction in humanitarian funding.

Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said that the decline in funding has put the humanitarian sector at a crossroads, as millions of people will not be able to receive life-saving support. He noted that the United Nations continues to work with its partners to save what can be saved with available resources.
