At the conclusion of its meeting in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, the G7 called for regional de-escalation in the Middle East in light of the Israeli attack on Iran and the aggression on Gaza.
In a joint statement issued Tuesday, according to Reuters, the group said: "We call for a de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East and a ceasefire in Gaza."
The G7 affirmed that "Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon." The group's leaders said in the statement: "We have clearly affirmed that Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon."
The G7, which includes the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Canada, also noted in its statement the "importance of protecting civilians."
