The Russian Embassy in the occupied Palestinian territories has recommended that Russian citizens leave Israel, as the danger to their lives and health in the current circumstances appears real.
Russian news agencies quoted Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov as saying in a televised interview on Monday: "The situation is really tense, I must admit. The danger to the lives and health of Russian diplomats and citizens in Israel is by no means trivial. The embassy recommends that all Russian citizens in Israel leave until the situation here returns to normal."
Viktorov also confirmed that the embassy's consular section, despite the daily shelling, has not stopped operating. It is now operating without interruption and is in constant contact with Russians residing in Israel, "providing additional services, assistance, and support." He said: "We maintain contact with the citizens. We are in constant contact with the local authorities."
The Russian ambassador recommended that Russian citizens leave Israel via Egypt, noting that dozens have already been evacuated this way.
He stressed that the Russian side could, if necessary, organize the evacuation of Russian citizens from the Israeli entity. He noted that they currently have the opportunity to leave the entity on their own.
