Bethlehem - Saba:
The Zionist enemy authorities continue their policy of abuse and harassment against Palestinian prisoners in their prisons, manipulating their cases before their sham courts. The most recent example was prisoner Rani Fahmi Qawar from the city of Bethlehem.
According to the Palestinian SAFA News Agency, the Palestinian Prisoners' Information Office reported on Monday that the enemy forces re-arrested the released prisoner Qawar in October 2023, after raiding his home in the Dheisheh refugee camp.
The office explained that Qawar was subjected to a month-long investigation before being sentenced to 14 months in prison, which he served in full. He was scheduled to be released in December 2024.
He added that the enemy authorities, instead of releasing him after the end of his sentence, transferred him to administrative detention. He was detained for six months without any charges.
He continued that his lawyer filed an appeal against the decision, which resulted in a substantive decision not to renew the prisoner's administrative detention, in addition to a pledge from the Supreme Court not to extend it again.
Despite these promises and court decisions, the enemy reneged on them, manipulated the prisoner's case, and refused to release him after the end of his administrative detention period, which occurred last Sunday.
The enemy authorities extended his detention for 15 days to consider the possibility of renewing his administrative detention or opening a new case against him.
The Prisoners' Media Center indicated that the enemy has recently escalated its policy of not releasing prisoners after the end of their sentences, whether short or long.
It emphasized that the enemy is deliberately extending their detention through administrative detention orders, which means they are entering a new cycle of suffering and abuse, a flagrant violation of all international conventions and norms.
