Hodeida – Saba:
First Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Hodeida Governor Abdullah Atifi on Thursday inspected the progress of emergency plan projects to address flood damage in the districts of al--Zahra, al-Luhayyah, and al-Qanawis.
The officials reviewed ongoing interventions to rehabilitate valleys and agricultural roads, protect affected villages, and inspected the flood-damaged road linking al-Qanawis and al-Luhayyah, crucial for farmers and agricultural product marketing.
They also visited al-Nashriya village in al-Luhayyah to oversee the construction of 400 homes for families whose residences were destroyed by floods, implemented as community initiatives.
Miftah emphasized the government's prioritization of Hodeida's disaster-affected areas, stating these visits align with state directives to monitor development project implementation.
He highlighted the importance of community initiatives in home rehabilitation and called for enhanced central-local coordination to address remaining needs.
Miftah praised local authorities' efforts and Tihama Development Authority's engagement, stressing Hodeida's coastal agricultural areas as a pillar of national food security requiring commensurate development.
Al-Rubai underscored the importance of rehabilitating agricultural and water infrastructure for recovery, ensuring water flow, village protection, and sustainable production, while seeking radical solutions to prevent future damage.
Governor Atifi noted that emergency projects are implemented in partnership with community initiatives based on field needs, with local authorities closely monitoring progress and mobilizing resources.
He lauded the state's commitment and the Central Emergency Committee's efforts in accelerating solutions for vulnerable populations.
