Hajjah Governorate’s Zakat Office has launched a wide range of humanitarian and development projects in 2024 totaling more than 2.186 billion riyals, benefiting over 80,000 citizens across the region.
The initiatives included support for families of martyrs, the wounded, prisoners, and the poor, while also strengthening zakat resource development, which reached over 2.2 billion riyals.
Key projects included Zakat al-Fitr for nearly 35,000 people, mass wedding and marriage support for over 1,200 individuals, medical aid for 3,793 cases, and debt relief for 210 beneficiaries. The office also provided grain distributions, in-kind zakat, charity kitchens during Ramadan, and social welfare assistance.
The gas cylinder distribution project reached over 16,000 families, while 20 community initiatives and an emergency response project provided essential relief, especially in flood-affected areas. Additional support went to Quranic schools, orphanages, and digital archiving.
Director Fayed al-Malahi stressed the office’s commitment to improving performance, expanding social solidarity efforts, and increasing public awareness about Zakat’s societal importance.
He credited the success of decentralized disbursement for expediting aid delivery and called on citizens to continue supporting Zakat initiatives to sustain charitable efforts.
