Abyan governor Saleh al-Junaidi stated he welcomes any efforts to respond to the initiative launched by local authorities a year ago to open Aqabat Therah Road, which connects Abyan and Bayda governorates.
He clarified that the road has been open from Sana'a side for about a year, per directives from the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council, to alleviate citizen suffering.
Al-Junaidi confirmed there are no obstacles to traffic resuming on the main road and expressed readiness to coordinate with mediators for repairs and safe passage arrangements.
He praised tribal efforts and hoped the "other party" would seriously address this humanitarian issue to ease citizen movement.
