An AN-2 plane that sent a distress signal earlier on Tuesday in central Russia's Republic of Yakutia has been found, with all passengers and crew members safe, according to the Ministry of Ecology in Yakutia.
Yevgeny Perfilyev, the republic's Minister of Ecology, Nature Management and Forestry, confirmed the positive outcome in a Telegram post, stating, "The plane has been found, and all passengers are alive."
Earlier on Tuesday, the AN-2 plane sent a distress signal from the Tomponsky district. On board were two crew members and an air traffic controller from the Forestry Air Service.
A spokeswoman for the regional rescue service told RIA Novosti that the plane was visible on radar, suggesting a possible technical malfunction in its radio.
Data from the Russian Aviation Agency indicated that members of the Yakut Regional Search and Rescue Base were also on board.
