Occupied al-Quds - Saba:
The Israeli opposition failed to pass a bill to dissolve the Knesset, which was voted on early Thursday morning. 61 MKs opposed the bill, while 53 supported it.
According to Israeli sources, the vote was divided within the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism bloc. MKs from the Agudat Yisrael party voted in favor of the bill, while MKs from Degel HaTorah, a member of the bloc, opposed it.
This move followed a dispute over a bill to draft more ultra-Orthodox Jews into military service.
On June 25, 2024, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled that military service would be compulsory for Jews (Haredi) and that financial support for religious institutions whose students refuse to be drafted would be suspended.
