US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on Saturday, June 7, 2025, that it briefly detained Khaby Lame, 25, one of the world's most popular TikTok influencers, due to an immigration violation.

ICE confirmed that Lame, an Italian citizen, was detained on June 6 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Authorities stated that Lame entered the United States on April 30 and subsequently overstayed the terms of his visa.


After a brief detention, Lame was granted "voluntary departure" on June 6 and has since left the U.S.

Lame is widely known for his short, wordless comedic videos that often mock overly complex online "life hacks," contributing to his massive following of over 162 million on TikTok. He became an Italian citizen in 2022, having lived in Italy since he was an infant after his family emigrated from Senegal.
