Tehran-Saba:
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the US Treasury Department's imposition of new sanctions on a number of Iranian and non-Iranian individuals and legal entities under the pretext of cooperating with Iran in the areas of trade and banking services.
Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei emphasized that these new sanctions are evidence of the depth of US hostility toward the Iranian people.
In a statement, Baghaei said: "The new US sanctions on Iran, imposed as part of the inhumane and failed maximum pressure policy against the Iranian people, are illegal and violate international legal principles and standards. They are further evidence of the depth of the US ruling regime's ongoing hostility toward the Iranian people."
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized that there is no doubt that the new US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which were designed and implemented to intensify pressure on every Iranian citizen and deprive them of their basic human rights, will make the Iranian people even more determined to defend their rights and legitimate interests against US transgressions.
On Friday, the US Treasury Department added 10 individuals and 27 entities linked to Iran to its new sanctions list. Among those sanctioned are nine Iranian nationals and one Chinese national. The sanctioned companies are located in the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, China, and Iran.
