Tunis-Saba:

A land convoy, including thousands of volunteers, will depart from Tunisia Monday, heading to Rafah crossing. The convoy aims to demand an end to the Israeli genocide, break the blockade, and allow the entry of aid.

The Joint Action for Palestine Coordination in Tunisia stated in a statement that "the Maghreb Convoy of Resilience to Break the Siege on Gaza will depart on Monday from the capital, Tunis, and the cities of Sousse, Sfax, and Gabes, heading to the city of Ben Guerdane, heading towards the Gaza Strip, passing through Libya and Egypt, to express solidarity with the besieged Palestinian people in the Strip and deliver humanitarian aid to them."

It added that "the convoy participants will head to the Ras Jedir crossing on the Tunisian-Libyan border, travel along the Libyan coastal road to Cairo, and then to the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian-Palestinian border, to deliver messages of solidarity and aid to the Palestinians in Gaza."

The coordination committee stated that a number of trade union and political figures will participate in the land convoy, along with human rights activists, lawyers, doctors, media professionals, and members of youth organizations.

On May 31, Wael Nawar, spokesperson for the "Resilience Caravan," reported that thousands of people from Tunisia and the Maghreb countries had joined the convoy.

Nawar stated that the convoy will include delegations from Mauritania, Morocco, and Algeria, as well as thousands from Tunisia and Libya. It will then pass directly to Cairo, then to Arish, Egypt, and Rafah, south of Gaza.

He also noted that the convoy had registered the participation of more than 7,000 people of various Maghreb nationalities by May 30.

Tunisian organizations expressed their support for the convoy and their participation in it. The most prominent of these organizations were the Tunisian General Labor Union, the Tunisian Journalists Syndicate, the National Order of Lawyers in Tunisia, the Tunisian League for the Defense of Human Rights, the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, the Tunisian Order of Physicians, and the Tunisian Organization of Young Doctors.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli enemy has been waging a genocidal war in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The genocide, with American support, has left more than 180,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine has claimed the lives of many, including children.
