Abdulhakim Hanini, a leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), has stressed that the statements of the extremist minister and war criminal Smotrich, in which he confirmed his intention to impose sovereignty over the West Bank, are colonial illusions that will collapse under the rock of the steadfastness of our people, who will not accept the occupation's plans.
Hanini said Thursday evening in a statement, "The settlement projects that the Israeli enemy is racing to establish in the West Bank cannot change the reality of the land and its identity, nor will they shake the conviction of our people and our resistance that the occupation will end, no matter how persistent its brutality and arrogance."
He explained that Smotrich's statement is nothing but a continuation of the policy of imposing a fait accompli, which has failed over decades of occupation and will not succeed now or in the future. Our Palestinian people in the West Bank will not stand idly by in the face of these malicious attempts to plunder the land and legitimize the occupation.
He pointed out that the annexation project and the imposition of alleged sovereignty will only be met with greater steadfastness and resistance, and that every inch of the West Bank will remain a fire and a flame of wrath against the occupation and its settlers.
Hanini called on the national and Islamic factions and forces to unite and work together, to close ranks, to activate all tools of resistance and to confront the enemy, and to thwart the annexation and displacement schemes being plotted against our people and our land.
