Madrid – Saba:
French player Antoine Griezmann Atletico Madrid's all-time top scorer agreed on Monday to extend his contract with the club's first football team for an additional season, which was originally scheduled to expire in the summer of 2026.
Atletico Madrid said on its website: "Antoine Griezmann and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement to renew the French footballer's contract until June 30, 2027."
The retired French international joined the Madrid club in 2014 from Real Sociedad, where he spent nine seasons over two spells. He left for Barcelona in 2019 and returned in 2021.
Griezmann is Atletico's all-time top scorer with 197 goals, surpassing the record set by Luis Aragonés with 173 goals.
The 34-year-old is also the eighth-most capped player with 442 appearances, and the third non-Spanish player on the list, behind fellow Slovenian Jan Oblak and Argentine Ángel Correa.
Griezmann helped Atlético Madrid qualify for the Champions League after finishing third in La Liga. This season, he has made 53 appearances in all competitions, contributing 25 goals, scoring 16 goals and providing nine assists.
