Data released by the National Center for Statistics and Information on Monday showed that the overall producer price index in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 4.1 percent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
The mining and quarrying group saw an 8.9 percent increase, primarily due to a 9.2 percent rise in crude oil and natural gas prices. Meanwhile, mineral ore prices fell by 3.8 percent, and stone and sand prices fell by 0.6 percent.
The manufacturing group saw a 3.8 percent decline, driven by an 8.8 percent drop in the prices of other transportable goods. Meanwhile, prices of metal products, machinery, and equipment rose by 3.2 percent, while prices of food, beverages, and textiles increased by 0.7 percent. On the other hand, electricity prices rose by 6.8 percent, and water prices by 5.7 percent.
