Moscow - (Saba):
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied on Thursday the existence of any agreements to hold negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement in the Vatican.
Peskov, according to Sputnik, responded to a journalist's question about whether there was new information about the upcoming negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations, saying, "No, there have been no agreements on this matter."
Peskov confirmed that "work is underway to implement the agreements reached between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul."
He explained that all parties are interested in conducting a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine according to the "1,000 for 1,000" formula as soon as possible.
Asked whether a prisoner exchange would take place this week, Peskov said, "This is a matter that requires intensive effort. Naturally, work is currently underway on specific names. Since we are talking about '1,000 for 1,000,' of course, it will take some time. This work is ongoing, but, I repeat, it is happening very quickly. Everyone is interested in completing it as quickly as possible."
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that a new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine could take place in the Vatican in mid-June.
