Hodeida - Saba:
A meeting held at the branch of the Care and Rehabilitation Fund for Persons with Disabilities in Hodeida province, chaired by Governor Abdullah Atifi, discussed ways to provide financial and service support to meet the needs of people with disabilities in the province.

The meeting, attended by Waleed Al-Shawafi, Director of the Fund’s branch, Abdulrahman Al-Saigh from the Office of Social Affairs and Labor, and several specialists from the Fund, reviewed a number of urgent needs. Foremost among them was securing an operational budget for the branch to enable it to provide medical services for people with disabilities, including surgical operations, medical tests, X-rays, and MRIs on a regular and sustainable basis.

The meeting also discussed completing the construction of the Fund’s branch building in Al Hudaydah, which would contribute to improving the work environment and expanding the scope of services provided to people with special needs.

Participants highlighted the importance of implementing economic empowerment projects for targeted groups of people with disabilities by offering specialized training and rehabilitation programs to help integrate them into the labor market and enable them to become self-reliant.

Governor Atifi emphasized the local authority’s commitment to supporting the Care and Rehabilitation Fund for Persons with Disabilities to meet beneficiaries' needs and alleviate their suffering. He stressed the importance of shifting from temporary responses to providing permanent and comprehensive services.

He also underscored the need to activate the role of disability associations and provide the necessary support to conduct specialized training courses aimed at skill development and enhancing the efficiency of local professionals working in this field.

The governor pointed out the importance of strengthening coordination between various official and civil entities to ensure the effective participation of people with disabilities in various development projects, guaranteeing their rights and enhancing their role in serving the community.

For his part, Waleed Al-Shawafi, Director of the Fund’s branch, explained that the branch urgently requires consistent financial support to sustain its care and rehabilitation services.

He noted that there is a comprehensive plan to expand the Fund’s services, including specialized surgeries, advanced medical tests, providing prosthetic limbs , wheelchairs, launching vocational training programs in several local associations and institutions.
