Sana'a - Saba:
A free medical camp for cataract extraction and lens implantation was inaugurated on Sunday at Al-Rawdah Maternity and Childhood Hospital in Bani Al-Harith District, Sana'a.
The camp, running from May 11 to 18, aims to perform 430 cataract surgeries and lens implantations, in addition to conducting eye examinations for patients with vision disorders. The initiative is funded by Direct Aid, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the Health and Environment Ministry’s Camp Administration, and the Sana'a Health Office.
During the inauguration, Dr. Mutahar Al-Marwani, Director of the Health and Environment Office in Sana'a, along with Bani Al-Harith District Director Hamad Bin Rakan, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ammad (Head of the Health Ministry’s Camp Administration), Dr. Rashad Al-Juma’i (Director of the District Health Office), and Dr. Sakina Al-Kubsi (Hospital Director), reviewed the camp’s organizational workflow and the provision of free eye care services for residents of Sana'a and neighboring areas.
Dr. Al-Marwani emphasized the importance of the free medical camp, which has seen a high turnout, in alleviating citizens' healthcare burdens—particularly under current difficult circumstances due to aggression. He praised Direct Aid’s efforts in supporting and implementing the camp.
He also called on all health sector organizations, philanthropists, and businessmen to contribute to such medical initiatives, which play a vital role in easing patients' suffering and providing free services to the underprivileged.
Meanwhile, Bani Al-Harith District Director commended Direct Aid’s humanitarian efforts in backing free medical camps, which help deliver healthcare to the poor and reduce their hardships.
