Discussion on mechanisms to enhance maritime activity & intensify efforts to address damage at Hodeidah port

Hodeida - Saba:
Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim met on Sunday with the leadership of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation to discuss mechanisms for enhancing maritime activity at Hodeida Port and intensifying efforts to address the damage inflicted on the docks due to Zionist attacks.

This aims to ensure the continuity of maritime services and secure the flow of vital supplies to the country.

The meeting, held at Hodeidah Port and attended by the Corporation’s Chairman Zaid Al-Washli, his deputy Nasr Al-Nusairi, and several general directors, reviewed the latest developments in the port’s various facilities and assessed the extent of damage to the docks. Discussions also covered the necessary measures to ensure operational continuity and overcome current challenges.

During the meeting, Minister Qahim emphasized that all workers at Hodeida Port are mujahideen (strugglers) on the economic front, which is one of the most critical fronts securing food and medicine for all Yemenis. He praised their high national spirit and dedication to their duties.

The minister stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination with all relevant authorities at the highest levels, calling for the utilization of all national expertise to support the port, maintain its vital operations, and confront all challenges.

He pointed out that urgent measures must be taken promptly to prevent potential damage to infrastructure, especially following the Zionist targeting of the docks, which requires swift action by concerned parties to avoid any disruption to essential services.

Qahim affirmed that, thanks to God and the efforts of dedicated personnel, Hodeidah Port continues to serve all incoming ships. He expressed confidence that the difficulties and obstacles facing the port will be overcome with strong will and unwavering determination.

He also emphasized the importance of expediting the work of committees tasked with inventory, assessment, and documentation, urging them to submit their reports promptly so that appropriate measures can be taken to address the damage and carry out rehabilitation.

For his part, Corporation Chairman Zaid Al-Washli confirmed that the leadership and all technical and administrative staff are working around the clock to ensure the port’s continued operation. He highlighted the commitment to strengthening coordination with all relevant entities to accelerate repair and maintenance efforts, ensuring the port’s full operational readiness.

Al-Washli noted that technical and engineering teams immediately began inventory, assessment, and emergency repairs, commending the workers' efforts and resilience in facing challenges. He affirmed that the port will remain a vital lifeline serving all Yemenis.

Following the meeting, Minister Qahim, accompanied by Chairman Al-Washli, his deputy Nasr Al-Nusairi, and several general directors, inspected the extent of destruction to the port’s docks and the ongoing efforts in rehabilitation and restoration.

Minister Qahim praised the efforts being made and stressed the importance of doubling these efforts, particularly given the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.

Additionally, the Minister of Transport and Public Works visited the crew of a Chinese container ship that arrived at Hodeida Port today. He presented them with commemorative gifts to mark the ship’s repeated visits—over ten commercial voyages—despite failed American escalation. This underscores the growing international confidence in the port’s efficiency and its ability to continue providing maritime services.
