The anti-occupation Israeli journalist Gideon Levy stated that eliminating the Hamas movement is equivalent to eliminating a people-or at the very least, killing all the men in the Gaza Strip.
He explained that eliminating Hamas constitutes the genocide of an entire population.
Writing in Haaretz on Sunday, Levy said: “Destroying Hamas may seem like a legitimate goal, especially after October 7, but it is unachievable without the total annihilation of the Gaza Strip. Therefore, eliminating Hamas is a criminal act. As long as the occupation continues, this goal will never be achieved. Even if the resistance is not called ‘Hamas,’ it will rise again, generation after generation.”
He added: “Under the guise of eliminating Hamas, Israel is now carrying out mass killings of men in Gaza. This genocide is rarely discussed. Very few Israelis and much of the global public focus-tragically-only on the killing of women and children in Gaza.”
