Resistance Alliance Condemns Palestinian Authority's Decision to Cut Salaries of 1,600 Prisoners

Gaza - (Saba):
The Resistance Forces Alliance has condemned the Palestinian Authority's decision to cut the salaries of 1,612 prisoners held in the prisons of the Zionist occupation.

The Alliance stated that this unjustified move reveals a dangerous alignment with external dictates and represents an attempt to strip the prisoners' cause of its national and resistance significance.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Alliance demanded that the Palestinian Authority immediately reverse its decision to cut prisoners' salaries and cease all punitive measures against them.

Ahmad Aslim, the official spokesperson for the Committee for Released and Deported Prisoners, revealed that the PA had cut the salaries of 1,612 prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons based on alleged security recommendations. He explained that this abusive approach reflects a deliberate attempt to diminish the role of prisoners, reducing their cause to mere social welfare. "Avoiding international pressure does not justify humiliating prisoners, martyrs, and the wounded," he added.

The Alliance called for restoring the legitimate role of national institutions concerned with prisoners' affairs, free from politicization or subordination, while maintaining clear support for the prisoners' cause as a central issue that cannot be marginalized or negotiated. It further demanded that the PA stop yielding to external pressures and instead adopt firm national positions that reflect the aspirations and immense sacrifices of the Palestinian people.

For its part, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement stated in a separate release that this decision - coming at a time when our people and prisoners are facing the most horrific war crimes and genocide by the enemy - is not only reckless but also represents a departure from national unity and an assault on the morale of Palestinian resistance symbols. The movement described it as reflecting an authoritarian approach completely detached from the pulse of our people and their sacrifices.

The statement added that this decision can only be interpreted as a blatant denial of prisoners' rights and a transparent attempt to undermine their steadfastness - which aligns with the enemy's desires, as it failed to break their will inside prisons and has now found proxies to pressure them from outside.

The movement noted that the Prisoners' Affairs Commission has been effectively hollowed out, with files of released prisoners transferred to the so-called "Empowerment Foundation" headed by a figure known for hostility toward the resistance approach and with a negative history regarding popular causes. This constitutes clear disregard for the sacrifices of those who spent the prime of their lives behind bars.

Islamic Jihad also held the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo responsible for neglecting released prisoners, leaving them without care or follow-up - confirming that the PA is practicing policies of neglect and marginalization against the most loyal segment of our people.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Al-Ahrar Movement stated in its release: "We were shocked by the Palestinian Authority's dangerous and unpatriotic measure of cutting salaries for 1,612 prisoners, in submission to international and American pressures - a shameful compliance that contradicts the most basic standards of national belonging."

The statement described the salary cuts as "a stab in the back of the prisoners" and a shameful abandonment of one of the noblest Palestinian causes, which forms a central pillar of the conflict with the enemy.

The statement continued: "The Authority was not content with this scandalous decision, but went further in its war against the prisoners' movement by abolishing the role of the Prisoners' Affairs Commission and transferring their files to the so-called 'Empowerment Foundation' headed by Ahmad Majdalani - known for his negative and suspicious positions toward our people's causes - which practices humiliation and degradation against released prisoners, dealing with them through a suspicious functional mentality unworthy of their sacrifices."

The statement warned the PA against continuing these policies, calling for "immediate reversal of this shameful decision and cessation of its transformation into a security agent serving the enemy's agenda - particularly in targeting the prisoners' cause which embodies Palestinian sacrifice and dignity."
