A meeting chaired by Ammar Al-Harib, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Administration, Local Development, and Rural Affairs, discussed ways to support the public cleanliness system and encourage community initiatives in the capital secretariat and provinces.
During the meeting, the undersecretary emphasized that cleanliness is a top priority and must become a daily practice for all members of society. He highlighted the need for awareness campaigns in schools, universities, institutes, and all educational facilities, as well as mosques, to educate the public on the importance of cleanliness in achieving a safe environment free from epidemics. He stressed the importance of concerted efforts by all relevant authorities in cleanliness and environmental matters to achieve the desired goals.
Al-Harib called for adherence to cleanliness regulations and proper waste disposal in designated areas at scheduled times. He also emphasized the importance of enriching the executive framework for public cleanliness in the capital secretariat and provinces with ideas, visions, and proposals, along with setting a timeline to ensure implementation.
For his part, Assistant Undersecretary Khalil Al-Quraishi stressed the need to design awareness programs and implement educational campaigns through various media outlets, focusing on cleanliness and urban improvement issues with the participation of all relevant stakeholders, making it a priority.
He pointed out the necessity of defining the roles and responsibilities of the concerned authorities to ensure optimal task execution. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of incorporating educational and awareness materials on public cleanliness into school curricula due to their positive impact on public health and the aesthetic and civilized appearance of cities.
Al-Quraishi also emphasized the need to enhance community awareness of public cleanliness issues to transform them into a behavioral and ethical commitment for all. He affirmed the ministry's keenness to overcome challenges and reduce issues to achieve the desired outcomes.
The meeting underscored the active role of security agencies in enforcing violations and addressing cleanliness-related issues. It stressed the importance of taking measures to recycle solid waste and dispose of it properly in accordance with sound procedures.
