Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stressed that Iran insists on using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, which requires enrichment.
The Iran's official considered that the Americans' contradictory behavior creates mistrust in their seriousness in moving forward with diplomacy.
During a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Iran and the US indirectly discussed the latest developments in negotiations and the Sultanate of Oman's preparations to plan for the next round of negotiations.
According to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), Araqchi pointed to the Islamic Republic of Iran's responsible approach in choosing the diplomatic path to resolve the fabricated issue related to Iran's peaceful nuclear program, believing that moving forward with this path requires serious and realistic will from the other side.
Araghchi emphasized that, as a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), while adhering to its commitments, Iran insists that the Iranian people benefit from nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, which requires enrichment.
He said that the contradictory behavior and statements of US officials, along with the continued sanctions and threats against the Iranian people, have heightened suspicions and created a lack of confidence in America's seriousness in advancing the diplomatic process.
